Sarah's Picnics A Time To Reflect

It was the first of a three picnic weekend for Governor Sarah Palin. The Governor steps down on Sunday.

It was appropriate that the first picnic take place where it all began for Sarah - in her hometown of Wasilla. The city of Wasilla has a population of just under 5500. Four thousand showed up for the farewell picnic. Of course, they weren't all from the city limits - one couple travelled from Texas to be there.

The Governor's daughter Piper helped to dish out the hot dogs. Sarah clearly enjoyed being among the people of Wasilla and when she spoke to them she chastised the media for sometimes ignoring those who defend freedom, telling the crowd that she had attended a memorial service for three soldiers from Alaska a day earlier. Her son, Track, is currently serving in Iraq.

"Never apologize for being Americans," she told the crowd in Wasilla, where Palin once served as mayor.

A man yelled out, "we want you to be our commander in chief!"

Sarah Palin wore a sweatshirt that read "Once a Patriot, Always a Patriot."

Click here for video of the picnic and a report from KTUU-Tv in Alaska:

The Governor left without taking questions from the media.

Here are a few more pictures of the Governor and her people.

Sarah Palin will serve up food at another picnic today in Anchorage. It's on the Park Strip and starts at noon.

On Sunday she heads to Fairbanks where she'll hand over power to Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell.

It is safe to say that Alaska will never again experience anything like Governor Sarah Palin: KTUU aired a five part series this week looking back at Sarah Palin's time as Governor. They aptly titled the Series - "A Wild Ride"

PART 1 Open and Transparent Government

PART 2 The Pipeline

PART 3 Early Popularity

PART 4 Relationship with Legislature

PART 5 Alaska Looks Back

I've said this before:
There is a difference between all those who aspired to a higher position versus the ones who are being called to a higher position, aspirations are honorable but self-sacrifice is patriotic.

Palin 2012 Go! Sara Go!

Just a observation!

The hot-dogs look good, I think I'm going to have one to.

Every good wish to you Sarah. The vicious attacks from the liberals indicates that you are a political threat to Obama. If you were not such a threat you would not be attacked on such a regular basis.

The better half and I are on the road from Wasilla to Fairbanks, about 1/2 hour behind Sarah & her family. Went to Wasilla picnic yesterday & was presented a Blue Star banner for my son's service.
