Stuart Schwartz, Ph.D. is on the faculty at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. He is also a former newspaper executive.
His article entitled, "Peggy Noonan: Sarah Palin Jealous" appears on American Thinker's website.
Here are some excerpts -
You're Peggy Noonan and you're jealous. But it's not the normal kind of jealous, the kind reserved for girlfriends who can squeeze into size 2 jeans. No, it's the kind of jealous that hurts, that grabs your gut and twists, that has you howling with rage into your pillow in the middle of the night, screaming "It's not fair" like a two-year-old denied another piece of cake. It is Sarah Palin jealous...and it is consuming you.
You're Peggy Noonan and you're jealous. You are a card-carrying member of the intellectual conservative elite, a PBS-anointed expert on family values who worked for both Ronald Reagan and Dan Rather, a talented speechwriter and wordsmith. And you are fuming: Sarah Palin refuses to be yesterday's news. You just can't get her out of your mind.
And, what's worse, everyone continues to talk about her. You've tried everything, using your mainstream media platforms, your Wall Street Journal columns, and powerful friends -- so many of them -- to savage her, to give her a rhetorical beating so fierce that it would bring a smile to the face of Vince McMahon -- if you knew who he is, and if you had ever watched a WWE wrestling match, which he heads. "She is a complete elite confection. She might as well have been a bonbon," you wrote, your $300 manicured fingers shaking on the keyboard.
You hang with the grandees, and they understand the world. Unlike Sarah Palin, who uses a pier simply to fish and wouldn't know a winsome observation if it jumped into her net. And you just don't understand the crowds, the admiration for someone who owns the kind of fishing boat that is not equipped with a champagne cooler. Oh, the unfairness of it all!
You're Peggy Noonan and you're jealous. You do stuff, too -- and yet all you hear is Sarah, Sarah, Sarah. Don't they read your columns, don't they understand that she's "dropping her G's," that she is "faux down-home, patronizing-and infantilizing"? You have ten, maybe a hundred times the vocabulary she has, and yet they're talking about her.
You're Peggy Noonan and you're jealous. You started a new venture, "The Women on the Web" website, a very conservative, free-enterprise thing to do and still you are not appreciated. They talk about the Palin family fishing business-big deal. Anyone can get a couple of fish -- just call Leonards' on Third Avenue and they will deliver. But Palin is not the only savvy executive type. You got together with your closest friends, all the kind of women who, unlike Sarah Palin, live in the real world where women wear "Channel jackets" and "long, flowing pants with heels," and understand life, as Reuters noted, "on a level that goes beyond the mundane."
You're Peggy Noonan and you're jealous. Your "beyond the mundane" co-founders --"buds" as the Sarah Palin types so crassly put it-for your new venture are the essence of your kind of middle America: they include "60 Minutes" reporter Lesley Stahl; actresses Candice Bergen (actress, Democratic and Planned Parenthood spokesperson), Whoopi Goldberg (dropped by advertisers after a nasty Bush joke at a Democratic fundraiser and then hired by The View, a Barbara Walters talk show on ABC ), and Marlo Thomas (a major Democratic donor who is married to Bush-hater Phil Donahue), your type of conservatives, which puts them a bit to the right of Hugo Chavez. But after a year the audience is less than 20 percent of what you defined as success, your investors are worried, and the same women who pack Sarah Palin rallies are ignoring your venture, which features such pieces as "Michelle Obama's Scintillating Style" and "French Fashion Designers Churn Out Stylish Burqhas."What is wrong with this country? Isn't anyone a real conservative anymore? Don't they listen to you? Can't they read without moving their lips? You're Peggy Noonan and you're jealous. And, worst of all, Sarah Palin is not.

I should point out that Peggy Noonan has been criticized almost daily since she wrote her article on July 10. Robert Elisburg also had a great rebuttal in, of all places, the Huffington Post - click here. One of my favorite is written by Sal on the we site Axis of Right - click here.

I would hope people stopped terming Peggy Noonan and these other patricians whether in the right wing or left as "intellectual Conservatives" or "intellectual elites" or "intellectual leftists" as they are patricians, an idiotry and yes I mean idiotry of a social class of inbred twerps whose right and left brain rub against each other and intoxicates them either with Gorbasms for Soviet dictators or Obama fainting spells from blowing up their Obama dolls they cuddle with in bed.
Peggy Noonan is of that patrician order which is a disease to both the left and right wing, like Arlen Specter proved as party does not matter, like Barack Obama supporters are finding out in his betrayal of them.
Pegs last posting which was under "commentary" as a title as no one will read her stuff at the WSJ anymore was her betraying her jungle fever Obama.......for Hillary Clinton.
Yes Peggy Noonan who said Hillary and John McCain were not right, but Obama was the fraud to vote for now says Hillary is the future.
Why may you ask?
Because she is not jealous of Gov. Sarah Palin, but because Sarah Palin is going to re ignite the Reagan Revolution uniting Reagan Democrats being sold out by Obama and Conservative Americans being sold out by Jeb Bush patricians.
That is the danger which scares the Letterman cocktail crowd of Al Franken and Peggy Noonan, because Sarah Palin is the American future to replace American failure in past Jimmy Carter and present Barack Obama.
Ronald Reagan set back this one world order 30 years and Sarah Palin is going to be the American who extinguishes this Keynesian pedophile Marxist enslavement which is coming out of central Europe that Obama assumes the position for.
Yes there is the nasty high school clique in this of political rape of the good girl to dirty her up, but it is not jealousy, it is about selling one's soul now and Peggy Noonan sold her soul and Barack Obama was her reward which spurned her.
Peggy Noonan would have to have emotion to have jealousy. All she has is calculating manipulations in her doomsday mode and is why she was attracted to droid head Obama as he hated the America she does and worships the European order he bows to.
I pity the joke Peggy Noonan and these Newsbuster types who call Americans crazy for suffering from Obama Derangement Syndrome for asking for the Truth. They are exposed for the frauds they are and no one cares what they say.
Now, Peggy is a REAL conservative. Sarah is not worthy of even being in the same room with her.
Pretty simple things amaze you people.
I went to Noonan's home page, then to her contact page, copy and pasted the American Thinker column and emailed it to her. Don't know if she'll read it or not, but it made me feel good.
Lame Cherry
I like the way you think, I like it a lot.
I second your opinion.

"Now, Peggy is a REAL conservative. "
Okay...now I hope everyone knows someone is hi-jacking my screen name--I have been posting on this site for a while now, and those of you who know what I've posted up to this point is the exact opposite of what the fake AF_Vet just puked out.
Modertators, can you check this person's IP against mine?
It's nice tactic though...you can't win a debate on issues about Sarah, so you have to attack those that defend her.
Sort of along the same lines as filing a multitude of frivolous lawsuits against a sitting governor to try and discredit her rather than argue ideas.
I'm honored that I've been singled out in this manner, though--someone is afraid of my words, so I must be discredited.
I have read the biography of this Noonan woman; it’s the rap-sheet of an elitist. This person and her coterie of narcissistic maggots are by-products of the status quo and what we, the little people; according to Leona call our social elite or leaders.
This appellation of “leader” should give anyone listening to them; pause.
Why? Look where they have led US; blaming US every step of the way.
I suggest to you that the ethics of this Noonan woman and her sort are what have given acceptance to Sara Palin.
Palin conjures up the old pioneer ethos; not the big city attitudes of today.
She generates a subliminal manifestation of an American Phoenix, irregardless of party, race, sex, religion or elitist attacks.
No! No! this Noonan woman is not jealous; she is a fading voice making way for a new breed.
