It was a case that had nothing to do with the Governor of Alaska, who was three thousand miles away at the time. So why did Manhattan Federal Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald take an ugly shot at Sarah Palin?
The case centers around 11 year old Aaron Schein. Aaron has Autism and his parents want to get him a dog, a hypoallergenic Labradoodle, a popular Labrador and Poodle mix that gets to be about 40 pounds. Aaron's parents say the dog is medically necessary to help the boy cope with Asperger's syndrome.
The owners of the building want to impose a 25 pound limit on dogs and so the two sides are in court.
So how in the heck did Sarah Palin's name get interjected into this dispute over tenant's rights in Manhattan?
It was at a hearing with lawyers from the two sides when Judge Buchwald blasted Sarah Palin for bringing her Down Syndrome child on stage after the Biden-Palin vice presidential debate.
"That kid was used as a prop," Buchwald told lawyers during a hearing on Wednesday. "And that to me as a parent blew my mind." Buchwald went on to say "that child should have been in bed."
Federal judges are political appointments. Buchwald is a 62 year old Democrat who was placed on the federal bench by President Bill Clinton.
The judge didn't even know that her comments were on the record. Ha! Some judge.
When this ninny found out that her words were going to be in The New York Daily News she demanded to know "who told the reporter?"
Many times those hearings with attorneys are held in private session. Naomi decided to hold the conference in court and so her comments were public record. Whoops.
Making political comments in open court is a big no-no for a Federal Judge who is supposed to be impartial and non-political.
As for the Judge's comments. Mind your own business lady. Naomi is one of those old judgemental gossip bags who usually spew their opinions at ladies clubs and bridge games. Only this gossip bag does her spewing from the Federal bench. At the very least she should be reprimanded.

But let me deal for a second with this judge's assertion that Sarah Palin used her special needs child as a prop.

It is common for candidates to bring their children on stage after a debate. Of course she wanted her littlest one there. She is a mother who couldn't be prouder of her children and she wants them to share in these moments.
Could you imagine if years later little Trig were to ask "Why wasn't I there Mommy?" after seeing the video of her Mother's historic run. Is Sarah supposed to say, "We were afraid that some big mouth judge in New York City would think we used you as a prop."
If little Trig did not have Downs Syndrome, Naomi the terrible never would have made that comment. The fact that she said what she said during a hearing about a special needs child proves that point.
In other words what this batty judge meant is if Trig was a "normal child," it would be fine to bring him on stage.
Trig should be hidden because he has Downs Syndrome? It is the worst kind of bigotry and the judge should be ashamed.

If your blog were impartial, it would be very easy for you to comprehend the concern that this judge and millions of other American mothers had when this special needs baby was paraded out on stage well after most children have been sent to bed. Your suggestion that this somehow discriminates against a special needs child is simply childish.
It's not about anything to do with Trig needing to being hidden, but the fact that a 6 month old child should not be getting dragged around like a designer handbag at conventions and booster rallies after 9pm at night.
This has nothing to do with whether Trig had Down Syndrome or not. Palin used all of her kids as props. How much school did her children miss as Palin dragged them around on her magical misery tour?
Piper and Trig should have been in bed on many occasions, instead of being dragged around as a prop and used for Palin's benefit. We know she has fiv children, she did not have to keep shoving them in our faces at every opportunity.
Contrast her usage of her children througout the campaign with that of Obamas.

They were USED as props and then Mrs. Palin got indignant when questions were asked about the people standing on stage with her expecting to be the SECOND FAMILY of the United States.

MY adopted son was born to a mother who was retarded. HE is in the third grade and reading at a 7th grade level. MY biological mother was low functioning as a result of scarlet fever as a child. The Obamas bring out their kids and post them all over numerous magazines and they're good parents. Sarah has hers with her and she's using them for a prop. Sarah gets new clothes and it's a major national disaster, but Michelle Obama can get a major makeover and buy all kinds of new designer gowns and it's not even mentioned. Obama sit's in a church listening to a racist for years and calls him his mentor and has all kinds of questionable associations and that's not worth vetting, but numerous lawyers are sent to try to dig up things about Sarah.

No one questioned whether Obama could be president and parent his children, but it was horrible that Palin thought she could be vice president and parent her children. This proves what I've been saying forever: Democrats and liberals are in reality, Nazi's who have two standards: One of the "In" crowd of Nazi like Democrats and another for the other and "small" people in the heartland. If you really look at the average Democrat and talk to them they really do sound like Nazis.
Every politician at some point has their family pose for the cameras because voters want to know that the politicians are family people. Voters don't like it if you are a loner with no family because it suggests you are running for office for career reasons only. My sister is a politician with no kids of her own and she parades my kids around for publicity reasons every chance she gets. I do not fault Sarah Palin AT ALL for holding her baby on camera and very much wish more MALE politicians would do the same as it would demonstrate how fathers love their children and can be good parents too.
But if Palin had HID her Down's Syndrome baby from the cameras, that would have either done no good or perhaps even invited more severe criticism. But instead, she showed the world she was proud of her child regardless of it's handicap and in doing so did something very helpful for families with down's syndrome children.
Judge Buchwald was totally off-point for criticizing Palin's going on camera with family in tow. I wonder if Buchwald has no children or young ones of her own to show and was just jealous. In any regards, her comments had nothing to do with her trial at hand and she showed bad taste and unprofessionalism (if not a violation of standards for judges) for using her bench to throw out personal opinions that were political in nature.

Maybe it would have helped if Sarah had looked like she actually wanted to hold a baby at all. Instead of being snuggled up, however, Trig was held face out to the crowd, blinking under the lights. It was sickening. I heard over and over from moms who were bothered by his stage appearances only because Sarah held him "like a sack of potatoes" or "like a stranger".
Bristol sure never held Trig that way...she treated him much more appropriately, like a VERY real and very interested mother. I suppose she was just practicing for that "other" baby she was supposed to be having four months later?
