Bill Maher is a misogynistic, smarmy, atheistic, raving lunatic druggie. But he can't help himself. There are people like him on the streets of every city in America that we ignore everyday.
However, Maher should not be ignored when he calls Sarah Palin "a bimbo" on national television, which he does quite often. HBO should be held responsible for his use of the sexists epithet.
After all, HBO gave Maher his own show and a microphone, even after ABC fired him for praising the terrorists who killed thousands on 9-11. Maher later thought it was funny to mock the death of Steve Irwin by dressing up with a sting ray tail in his chest for Halloween (see picture).
HBO is ultimately responsible for Bill Maher's disgusting behavior on the show and so those who support Sarah Palin should watch him carefully this year. The new season premieres on HBO on February 20 at 10PM EST.
If Bill Maher calls Sarah Palin "a bimbo" again, there should be letters written to HBO, there should be protests, and if he doesn't stop, a boycott.
Watch the video below. This is the first time he called Sarah a bimbo and then he kept it up on following shows. It happens about five minutes in.
God Bless Ralph Nader. I don't agree with his politics and I know he doesn't agree with Sarah Palin on most things, but he stood up to sexism, eben when it was about the opposition. Nader looked right at Bill Maher on his own show and called him a sexist.
In Bill Maher's standup act and in his personal life, he has a history of misogynistic behavior, so this isn't a big surprise.
The surprise is that there is no outrage. Had he called any woman on the left a bimbo, there would have been protests followed by an on-air apology.
Maher's defense that "men can be bimbos too" is hallow. There are certain words that you don't use when describing women, blacks, Latinos, special needs children, homosexuals, Asians, etc, etc. It is when the epithet directed at the group it is intended to offend that makes it repulsive. Words were used to keep women, races and ethicities down for years and it is important that those groups are vigilant not o let someone like Bill Maher use it on a national forum and once again legitimize its usage.

Remind HBO that on an opinion show, even one hosted by comic, it is not okay to call a woman a Bimbo, especially a woman as bright and as accomplished as Governor Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin is a woman with misplaced values, morals and priorities and she possibly has a barely average iq. Sounds like a bimbo to me. Besides, you don't call her a bigot for whipping up her stump speeches into rabid hate rallies. The secret service admits that the possibility of an assassination attempt on Pres. Obama went up every time Sarah Palin picked up a microphone, and even with this knowledge she still chose to whip the haters up into a frenzy. But, calling her a bimbo is so much worse.
Bill Maher is nothing more than an all American ratings puppet. people look to this tool for their shows on radio or t.v. just to hear the dumb things he spouts out to cause drama and controversy. while he bashes religion and America for being "stupid" he for some reason or another fails to realize that his negative and retarded statements do nothing to help ANYTHING and just makes him slump into the "stupid" category as well... congrats bill you fail at life
Sarah Palin is a bimbo. No argument required.
All you have to do is look at her short record as a Governor and decide for your self. It appears to me not many people who follow or support her have done any research on her. Instead they drink the kool-aid and believe everything they are told.
She's a bimbo yes but she's actually worse. Most bimbos are harmless twits but Palin strikes me as a nasty almost fascist figure whose hate and ignorance is masked by her good looks. Heaven help us if this superficial unqualified jerk ever achieves any real power. She would make George Bush look like Abe Lincoln!
I cancelled cable tv several years ago due to the offensive programming. I wish a-la-carte cable had been made law. I wonder how long HBO (and its affiliates) would have stayed in business.
