CBS is at it again.
The Network that gave us Dan Rather and his erroneous and badly researched report on President Bush's National Guard service AND then replaced Rather with Hillary Clinton's good friend, Katie Couric, has twisted a Sarah Palin story to make her look bad.
CBS - Complete BS!
Sarah Palin has proved time and time again that she is a Mom first and a Governor second. That is the way it should be. Like millions of successful women in this country, she and her husband Todd have balanced a home life and a career.
But Sarah Palin has to deal with something else, she has to protect her family from a bias and rabid press that seems obsessed with taking shots at the Palin family, something that was off limits until Sarah hit the scene.
No one attacked Biden, Obama or McCain's family in the election. Why? Because they are men and the attacks are sexist to the core. When the media attacks Sarah Palin's family, what they are really trying to say is that Governor Sarah Palin is a bad mother. Make no mistake, this is all very political in nature. Being a Christian Mother who is raising five children, one with special needs and another who has become a mother herself, makes Palin a star among Republican Conservatives. Her story is part of her political strength an that is why it is under constant attack.
Enter CBS - again.
The Associated Press, People Magazine and The Anchorage Daily News all reported recently that Sarah Palin's daughter Bristol and her fiancee Levi Johnston both dropped out of High School because of Bristol's pregnancy.
Bristol, as you know, gave birth to a beautiful little boy on Sunday named Tripp.
Both Bristol and Levi must have been upset to read that they were drop-outs, when both are completing their Senior year of High School by correspondence classes. What a shame that this young couple, trying to make a new life for themselves with a new blessing, have to deal with accusations.
So Governor Sarah Palin did what any good mother would do, she picked up the phone herself and gave the incompetent ones at the AP, ADN and People an earful. She didn't hide behind a press person or spokesperson. She was a Mom and she was defending her child, the most basic and wonderful of human resources.
She called People.Com and left this message, ""You need to know that both Levi and Bristol are working their butts off to parent and going to school and working at the same time. They are certainly not high school dropouts."
Good for her!
Except the BS network didn't see it that way. CBS put together a snide report on Sarah's compliant about the reporting on her daughter and future son-in-law's education "that she calls inaccurate." THAT SHE CALLS INNACURATE? It either is accurate or it isn't.
Journalists are supposed to work at CBS. Journalists are supposed to find the answers to questions before they report. Don't you call Wasilla High School to find out if it is accurate that Levi and Bristol are completing their work? Or is it better and more in line with your bias to leave the question hanging that Sarah Palin might be lying?
Shame on you.
And then, CBS finds a "media expert" who may be the only person in the civilized world who finds fault with a mother defending her child. Here is the excerpt from the article:
"Media expert and author Michael Levine says it's profoundly unusual, and 'in some ways, demeaning of the position she has. It's so clearly an effort to go on offense against a bad situation."
"A bad situation?" A young woman just gave birth to a little boy. Can you for a second show some common decency and back off the attacks? "Demeaning?" I find it refreshing that Palin didn't use surrogates or anonymous sources. She picked up the phone herself and defended her child. Bravo!
In Michael Levine's world I'm sure you are supposed to call pollsters and consultants first to find out what is the best thing to do. Then as you are glowing about the baby publicly, let your attack dogs go after your enemies in the media.
What CBS and The Michael Levine's of the world don't realize is that THIS is why we love Sarah Palin.
She lives with us in the real world. She did what we would have done. She was a good Mom.
If you must read the CBS.Com article you can click here.
And here is an *UPDATE* - The Sarah Palin for President Blog has done a little research on Mr. Levine. You can read more about this "media expert" here. He sounds like the kind of guy who would say whatever is necessery to get on TV. And to get on the BS Network, just bash Sarah Palin.
Here is video of the report. Luckily it aired on the Early show that no one watches!
Well, well, what a surprise! Kudoes to Maggie Rodriguez for sticking up for Sarah. I guess it takes a Mom to understand. I wonder is Maggie was taken to the woodshed for daring to not toe the anti-Palin line at CBS.
I guess I am still mad about the Katie Couric interview were she asked Sarah what newspapers she read? Palin was incredulous as she should have been. Did Katie ask that question to Obama, McCain or Biden. Know she assumed what they read. But a Mom from Alaska she must be dumb and ill-read right? Couric's question did not expose Palin, it exposed Couric's bias.
CBS is an embarrassment.
Many in the media have also embarrassed themselves as they goose step their opinions on America. Obama is the Savior. Palin is bad. Every article on these two must necessarily make that point somewhere.
Ronald Reagan went through this too. The Iconoclast that is the American Media tried to discount him as being an inexperienced, lightweight actor.
But people saw through it and there was a Reagan revolution.
Wait and watch, another revolution is brewing and it is articles like this one from the BS network that fly in the face of reality and cause the necessary mistrust to fuel the discontent.

Twice since Gov. Palin has been in the national spotlight she has offered statements about her family, saying she was 'forced' to do so by media speculation or inaccurate reports. The first was to dispel rumors that Trig was Bristol's baby, which she says 'forced' her to announce that Bristol was pregnant. The second time she is 'forced' to make a statement about Tripp's birth and the educational activities of Levi and Bristol because of false media statements. This makes no logical sense.
First, Bristol's pregnancy would have become obvious eventually, it isn't as though the media rumors brought about her pregnancy and it would have been in the news at some point whether there were rumors or not. Secondly, Tripp was born into a family that has been under media focus, it is only natural that there would be stories about his birth and the activities of his parents. The governor or her family could have issued statements earlier, and avoided most of the predictable conjecture. Her supporters would be happy and her detractors left with less to say.
What we have is a public figure who doesn't understand the importance and benefit of constructive and proactive communication with the public through the media. She is not being victimized, she is failing to communicate adequately in light of her situation.
Gawd, what incredible double talk, Ms. Jones.
"Constructive and proactive communication?"
Please.
The press has been antagonistic to Ms. Palin since her entrance on to the national stage.
Get real.
Amy, first let me say thank you for reading TSPB and for your comment.
Second, I can't imagine how sarh Palin could be get out in front of someof the allegations and stories about her.
She did say that Trig was her baby when after delivery she wrote a wonderful statement that I encourage everyone to read,
In fact, I will post it. Glenn Beck did a wonderful homage to Sarah and Trig long before she hit the National stage.
She did get out in front of Bristol's prgnancy and that did nothing to quell the sniping and rumors.
And how was she supposed to use "proactive communication" to get out in front of the reports that her child is not a dropout?
Maybe today she should mak a statement that she doesn't use drugs, her husband doesn't beat her and she has never been involved in a hit and run accident just so she can get out in front of every false allegation that may be printed.
No one has had to face so many lies about her family as Sarah Palin. It is disturbing and to blame her for it is misguided.
