Sometimes It Takes An Outsider looking In To See The Truth

Tracee Hutchinson is a well-known and respected journalist in Australia. Today she wrote an opinion piece on the way America has treated Sarah Palin.

Now, Hutchinson is not a fan of Sarah Palins, which makes it even more striking that she can see the double standard in America when it comes to the way we treat women politicians.

Hutchinson writes:

Palin is not the first ill-experienced or ill-equipped person to run for high political office. The big difference is that these people are usually men and they are never — repeat never — subjected to the same scrutiny or reduced to the same kind of personal attacks as women.

The hullaballoo over her $150,000 clothing allowance is a classic example. Has anyone writing this stuff actually been shopping for women's clothes? Do any of them know how much hair and make-up costs? The woman is running for vice-president of the United States. Not secretary of Wasilla hockey club. If I were Sarah Palin I'd have a personal hair and make-up person too. Can you imagine the carry-on if she appeared onstage or on the telly looking as if she'd been caught in a wind-tunnel? Or if she stepped out in something that looked a little too hokey?

Why aren't we similarly learning about the price of Barack Obama's suits? Or what it cost to deck out Michelle and the kids in those colour-toned matching outfits at the nomination acceptance? I'd estimate $25,000 for the four of them on that night alone — minimum.

It is plainly absurd, but the stories of Palin's clothing extravagances squeezed her and Cindy McCain back into jeans this week as a counter-blow while Obama spent millions of dollars on a single ad.

And just why has Palin become such juicy fodder for comedians when comment on Obama's race and colour are completely off limits? Clearly it's OK to pillory women but it's not OK to pillory people of colour. Why? I'm not sure. America, after all, has a proud history of burning white women at the stake so it's not as though discrimination and recrimination have been exclusive to colour.

Palin SLAMS Los Angeles Times

The Los Angeles Times has a videotape of a 2003 banquet where then-state Sen. Barack Obama spoke of his friendship with Rashid Khalidi, a leading Palestinian scholar and activist.

At the banquet, several speakers blasted Israel and America's support of Israel, including Khalidi, a former spokesperson for the PLO.

The Los Angeles Times has the videotape and refuses to release it. Here is Sarah in response:

Ouch!

Obama's "pet newspaper" that should get a Pulitzer prize for "kow-towing."

The LA Times released a statement saying that they received the videotape from a source who only agreed to give up the tape with a promise that it would not be released.

This, of course, gives new ammunition to the McCain Campaign and Sarah Barracuda. It doesn't help that the LA Times also endorsed Barack Obama.

The Effigy Comes Down but Controversy Is Not Over

After an avalanche of protests and International condemnation, the two idiots in West Hollywood have taken down the mannequin of Sarah Palin hanging by a rope with a noose around its neck.

Chad Michael Morrisette, a professional window display designer, said the effigy of the Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor was part of his attempt to bring politics into his Halloween decorations this year.

He and his partner Mito Aviles live at the home and met with the Mayor of West Hollywood before taking it down. "The Mayor told us that he respects our right as artists," said Morrisette, "but was concerned about the impact on the community."

The display was not art. It was hate.
les.

There was a huge protest at the home today. Some held up a giant sheet so that no one could see Sarah Palin display. Another protester had a mannequin of Morrisette hanging by a noose under a sign that said, "How does it feel
"They told us, 'We respect you as artists, we're just concerned about the effect on the community,'" Morrisette said. "I don't resent them. I'm not angry at them. I respect their rights."

Hate begets hate.

In reaction, another idiot in Redondo Beach put up an Effigy of Barack Obama with a cleaver through his neck. A representative from John McCain's campaign showed up at the home and asked the owner to take it down. Class move by the McCain campaign!

The figure outside Lisa Castaneda's house north of 190th Street is a likeness of the Democratic presidential candidate with his necktie pulled tight and hung from a post, his jacket covered with blood and a sign in red that reads, "Nobama."

Castaneda, a mother of two young children, said the Halloween display is part of her larger scary exhibit that includes the Grim Reaper, a graveyard and the attacker from the "Scream" movies.

A sign in support of McCain/Palin is posted in front of the yard.

Castaneda said she supports the Republican candidate, Sen. John McCain. She said the Obama effigy simply makes a statement that he is not fit to be president.

"I disapprove of him, period," she said. "I am appalled by a man who is so close to being our president who won't put his hand on the Bible, who won't wear a flag pin."

She is just as big an idiot as the two in West Hollywood.

But wait there is more.

In Lexington, Kentucky, two men have been arrested for hanging a Barack Obama effigy from a tree on the University of Kentucky campus.

University police say 22-year-old student Joe Fischer and 21-year-old Hunter Bush turned themselves in Thursday afternoon. Both men were jailed Thursday on charges of disorderly conduct, burglary and theft.

Monroe says the men told police they decided to do it after seeing reports about a Sarah Palin effigy.

See what happens when you allow this stuff to start.

And Dennis Miller asks a great question. Why didn't Barack Obama or someone from the Obama Campaign demand that the Sarah Palin effigy be taken down?

Miller would not criticize Morisette or Aviles, instead he was critical of Obama:

"Listen, I’m not disappointed in those guys. I’m disappointed in the one cat here, Barack Obama. They tell me he’s a smart politician. They tell me he’s a different politician, not business as usual. He’s going to up the dialogue.

To think, that this guy didn’t just come out and say to these two idiots who are voting for me, 'Please take that down. If you don’t realize that, as a black man, the lynching thing is so sensitive to me, I am finally going to come across the aisle here with my opponent. That is a mother of five, the governor of a state. You idiots have to take that down. And if that costs me your two votes, so be it.'

He would have probably won the election, and he would have told me he was something different as a politician."

Great point.

Obama Couldn't Say It To His Face But Takes Cheap Shot At Palin

Yael T. Abouhalkah, a columnist for the Kansas City Star, makes a great point about the new ad the Obama campaign has launched. It is a cheap shot at Sarah Palin.

Here is the AD that ends with the famous Sarah wink:

Now here is the problem, after the second debate Barack Obama whined that John McCain "didn't sat it to my face." when asked about his long close relationship with domestic terrorist William Ayers.

The topic never came up in the town hall debate, where the audience asks the questions.

In the third debate, sitting right across the table from Obama and looking him right in the eyes, McCain did say it to his face.

In that same debate, Obama was given the chance to say to McCain's face that Sarah Palin is not qualified to be present and he chose not to.

Obama instead refused to answer the question, which is sort of like voting "present," which he did 166 times in the Illinois Legislature anytime a tough issue would come up.

Here's what Obama said, “That's going to be up to the American people. I think that obviously she's capable politician. She has, I think, excited the base in the Republican Party and I think it's very commendable, the work she's done on behalf of special needs.”

But in the new Obama ad, Obama takes direct aim at Palin.

The ad mocks McCain, pointing to his three-year-old quotation that "I know a lot less about economics than I do about military or foreign policy issues."

It continues with McCain's words that he may have to "rely on a vice president" to help with economic issues.

The ad says: "His choice?"

Then the ad wordlessly shows a smiling Palin at a speech, winking at the crowd.

Abouhalkah says in his column, "I have no problem with Obama saying Palin was a horrible choice as a vice presidential candidate because she's unqualified to be president. But Obama ducked the issue when given a chance to tell John McCain face-to-face that Palin was not qualified to be president. Obama's last-minute attack ad was unfair."

Well said.

It seems the Obama campaign is trying to take the attention off the fact that its Vice Prseidntial Candidate, Joe Biden, keep saying stupid things.

Except for tightly controlled situations, the campaign has been keeping Biden from the press because he just might Gaffe again.

Palin on the other hand has been the most accesible candidate in the last few weeks. So Barack, if you want to say it to her face, she's available.

Let's Flood The Sarah Palin Effigy House With Outrage!

I want to thank Feuilly, a reader of this blog, for a great idea.

America should write to the two attention seeking critons in West Hollywood who put a noose around a mannequin dressed like Sarah Palin and hanged her in effigy.

Feuilly suggests we all send these morons a letter and let them now how we feel about such hateful acts:

Here is the address:
Chad Michael Morisette and/or Mito Aviles
1253 N Orange Grove Ave
West Hollywood, CA 90046

Thanks Feuilly. Now spread this all over the Internet and lets flood their home with our outrage.

The Palin Effigy Controversy Continues

The idiot who decided to hang Sarah Palin in effigy for Halloween is defending his decision and his right to be an idiot.

Chad Michael Morrisette and his partner, Mito Aviles, both 28, told the LA Times that they installed the Palin display at their house in the 1200 block of North Orange Grove Avenue in West Hollywood about three weeks ago.

They have no plans to take it down until after Halloween.

Chad Michael seems to be screaming out for attention, doesn't he? Well, he got it. The LA Times also reports that the Secret Service is looking into the hateful act.

In a complete double standard, the LA Sheriff says hanging Palin if ffigy is not a hate crime. But he says, if someone were to hang a replica of Barack Obama, that would be a hate crime because of the "historical implication."

I guess this country has no history of violence against women. The double standard of accepted sexism know no bounds in America.

I will say that I am impressed that Joy Behar and Keith Olbermann both expressed outrage.

Here's Behar:

Now Keith:

So now that the effigy has been universally panned and even the most ardent Palin hater have showed disgust, why don't the neighbors or some concrned citizens protest at that house until they take it down?

Hate can only be defeated when good people say no more.

It is one thing to voice outrage. It is quite another to do something about it. It is time for the people of West Hollywood to show that they are better than these two hate-filled critons.

If nothing is done, then the neighborhood is complicit and deserves to be equally condemned.

Sarah Palin Deserves Our Respect.

Helen McCaffrey is the director of Women's Watch Inc., a nonprofit women's advocacy group based in Cape May, New Jersey. She wrote this wonderful opinion piece for the Philadalphia Inquirer. You can email her here.

I cannot predict who will win the presidential campaign, but I already know who will lose big: all women.

I realized this when I saw a 20-something male student who attends a class in the community college where I teach, wearing a T-shirt that read, "Sarah Palin is a C-." He wore it in public, in broad daylight, and without shame or even consciousness of what he was doing.

I took the time to advise him of the "error of his ways" and informed him of the consequences if he wore it to my class.

This encounter shook me right down to my socks.

Most of my adult life has been spent working for civil rights for all Americans, as a lawyer defending constitutional rights and now as a college teacher and director of a nonprofit advocating for the rights of women.

Not since I told myself I could lose weight on the pizza and cheesecake diet have I been so self-deluded. This election cycle has been like stepping on the scale.

It was the encounter with the young man that woke me up, but there were signs all along the campaign trail. First, with the candidacy of Sen. Hillary Clinton, who won 18 million popular votes from the people of the United States and was ridiculed, marginalized, and put in her place when she wasn't even offered the vice presidency slot.

But the really big attack on women occurred when John McCain selected only the second woman in history to be on a major-party ticket. He chose a governor of a state critical to our energy crisis. She is a very popular governor with an 80-percent approval rate. She was elected on her own merit without previous political ties. She is her own political creation, not the wife, daughter, sister or mistress of a politician.

I thought Americans would be proud of her nomination, whether we agreed or disagreed with her on the issues. Was I in for a shock.

The sexism that I believed had been eradicated was lurking, like some creature from the black lagoon, just below the surface. Suddenly it erupted and in some unexpected places.

Instead of engaging Palin on the issues, critics attacked attributes that are specifically female. It is Hillary's pantsuit drama to the power of 10. Palin's hair, her voice, her motherhood, and her personal hygiene were substituted for substance. That's when it was nice.

The hatred escalated to performers advocating Palin be "gang raped," to suggestions that her husband had had sex with their young daughters, and reports that her Down syndrome child really was that of her teenage daughter. One columnist even called for her to submit to DNA testing to prove her virtue. Smells a little like Salem to me. I was present at an Obama rally at which the mention of Palin's name drew shouts of "stone her."

"Stone her"? How biblical.

All this is at a time when women are regularly being raped as they try to cross the border into the United States; bloody, broken women haunt the emergency rooms of hospitals; and abuse and disrespect for women and girls is rising faster than bank bailouts. That is the atmosphere in which people, including women, choose to attempt to destroy a woman who is a legitimate political leader.

Agreement on issues is not required, but Palin merits respect.

It is dismaying that misogyny and sexism are so excessively marbleized into our daily interactions that some of us cannot even recognize their existence when confronted with it or when staring at it directly in the mirror.

It is my fervent hope that those who purport to be intellectuals begin to engage in argument and not resort to their baser selves or the easy exercise of personal and biology-based attacks.

Mockery and vilification of women such as Palin should become just as taboo as race-based slams. Until then, women are the real losers.

Hollywood is Full of Idiots

Here is proof that it is not just the stars like Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton and P-Diddy that make Hollywood a haven for idiots. There are the no name idiots who populate this little modern day Sodom and make this section of the world reprehensible and disposable.

Two of these sub-humans decided to hang Sarah Palin in effigy.

It is a mannequin with its hands tied behind its back and a noose around its neck.

The same hypocrits who decried Palin for not doing something about people yelling "Kill him" about Obama probably now think this is funny.

Imagine the outcry if someone did this with an Obama mannequin. That would be horrible. Then why is this okay? Because she is a white woman? Isn't that equally racist and sexist?

This makes me sick and regardless of your politics it should make you sick too. The Neighberhood should insist it be taken down. But this is West Hollywood filled with Celebrity wanna be's and idiots in training.

To them, this is high brow humor.

Palin in 2012

CNN is reporting what we reported here weeks ago - Sarah Palin is going rogue.

The McCain campaign wanted a Maverick and they got one.

McCain has publicly disagreed with the McCain Campaign's decision to pull out of Michigan.

She then started holding impromptu news conferences with the travelling media against the advice of the McCain Campaign,

And she called the robocalls used by the McCain campaign, "irritating."

It seems Sarah might be jumping ship and running for 2012.

Palin Talks To People

People Magazine will have Sarah Palin on the Cover next week.

It is a long interview with Sarah and Todd Palin. Click here to read the whole thing.

It is your typical people stuff. The couple wants Bristol to get married before this summer. The baby is due in December. It sounds like the grandparents want the couple married before the birth.

As for Tina Fey playing Palin as an airhead, Palin said, "That's fine. When I impersonate her, I play her as an airhead too."

The couple will not have any more kids. But if they did have another boy they would name him Zamboni. I hope that was a joke.

Sarah says she reads all of the time and right now between briefing papers she is reading "the Looming Tower."

Finally, a reader asked why Sarah Palin didn't say anything when somebody at one of her rallies shouted "Kill Obama." Sarah said, "I never hear that or I would have said something."

Palin Most Accessible to press; Biden Hiding - ABC, CBS News

Despite what you may have heard, Sarah Palin has been speaking with the press copr on a regular basis. Everyday she walks to the back of the campaign plane and answers questions and she has been doing local an national sit down interviews almost daily.

Both Ryan Corsaro ot CBS News and Jake Tapper of ABC News, who are travelling with Palin, have made this point in their blogs.

On the other hand, the Obama campaign is now hiding "Gaffe A Day" Joe Biden before he sinks the campaign.

The Christian Science monitor points out that the last time Biden was took questions from the public was September 10th. That's when he said Obama should have picked Hillary for Vice President. The campaign then shut him down.

The last week he made the comment that Obama's inexperience could cause an attack on the U-S. After that they hid him away like a Gradfather they don't want company to talk to.

And yet the Media keeps attacking Palin. She's out there. Joe is hiding.

Palin Accuses Obama of Sexism!

Whoa, with exactly two weeks left in the campaign. Sarah Palin has a new attack - Barack Obama doesn't treat women the same as he treats men.

Palin unveiled the new attack at a rally in Las Vegas.

It started with asking why Obama didn't even consider Hillary Clinton for the V-P spot. Palin said, "You've got to ask yourself why was Senator Hillary Clinton not even vetted by the Obama campaign?"

Then she attacked Obama for not paying women on his staff as much as men. Obama has been attacking John McCain for not supporting the equal pay bill, bit Senate payroll records showed women on his staff only earned 83 percent of what men earned.

"Does he think that the women aren't working as hard?" she asked. "Does he think that they are 17 percent less productive? And Barack Obama can't say that this is just the way that its always been done around the Capitol, because I know one senator who actually does pay equal wages for equal work, Sen. John McCain."

It was a clear attempt to woo Hillary Clinton voters in the battle ground state of Nevada.

"It's a matter of fundamental fairness in this country," she said. "And to make all this happen, working mothers need an advocate, and they will have one when this working mother is working for all of you in the White House."

This is the best strategy of the McCain campaign and the best use of Sarh Palin yet. If she can appeal to women voters who feel passed over in their own work place, maybe she can pick up a percent or two in the polls. We'll see.

Palin also thanked Joe Biden for his http://news.aol.com/political-machine/2008/10/21/biden-digs-hole-surrogates-keep-digging/ yesterday. Biden said that some foreign entity will want to test Obama's inexperience in his first six months in office.

The why elect him?

The Obama campaign was playing damage control. Palin told supporters in Nevada that Biden "told the Democrat donors to, mark his words, it will happen, that there were at least four or five scenarios that would place our country at risk in an Obama administration," Palin said. "I guess we've got say, 'Well, thanks for the warning, Joe.'"

Liberal Alec Baldin and Liberal Media Elite Praise Sarah Palin

Sarah Palin continues to get praise for her performance on Saturday Night Live.

Reuters is reporting that Liberal, Democratic Actor Alec Baldwin is coming to the defense of Palin and SNL. And the New York media is fawning over her performance.

Baldwin wrote a blog for the Huffington Post.

About Palin he wrote, "Palin came on to be a good sport. And she was. She was polite, gracious. (More so than some of the famous actors who come through there, believe me.)"

And about those who criticized Saturday Night Live for having her on, claiming it would influence the election, he wrote, "You're kidding, right? The woman is the Vice Presidential nominee of one of the two major parties in this country. Don't put her on SNL? With all of her exposure and the Tina Fey performance? What reality are you in?"

And even the left-leaning New York Times had nice things to say about Palin on SNL.

Ms. Palin's delightful performance on Saturday stood out from the efforts of other politicians who have made fun of themselves on the NBC late-night comedy show," wrote Alessandra Stanley in a New York Times column called The TV Watch.

In the Saturday Night Live skit, Baldwin looks at Palin and says, "You're way hotter in person." That must be true.

If Sarah Palin can charm Alex Baldwin and The New York Times into saying nice things, she can charm anybody.

ABC News did a strange column on the SNL appearance, where two writers ask the question, "Did Palin's SNL Stint Mak Any Difference?" and then never answer the question in four pages of copy.

But the article did alert me that the great Sara Benincasa (our second favorite Palin impersonator) posted a post-SNL Sarah Palin video blog. Enjoy -

Palin Getting Rock Star Treatment from Colorado Media

They have been reporting on the Sarah Palin campaign stop in Grand Junction, Colorado by the hour.

A line started forming at 5AM for her rally at 6PM. Local TV covered the line in morning newscasts.

The 25 thousand will be the largest crowd in the area for any event on a long, long time. Large Video screens are being set up for the overflow crowd.

To give you some idea of her drawing power, Barack Obama held a rally last month in the area and drew six thousand.

Colorado is a battleground state and polls show Obama with a slight lead. Sarah Palin will make several appearances in the state before Election Day. As a Hunter and Outdoorsperson, Palin is a big draw in the West.

Palin was in Loveland, Colorado for a rally at 12:15. The Budweiser Events Center has a seating capacity of 7200, but 12 thousand packed in while others had to be turned away.

I'll have more on the rally tonight.

Sarah On PTL

Sarah Palin has done a long interview that will air tomorrow on "The 700 Club," a Christian Show hosted by televangelist Pat Robertson.

But the LA Times says that before you dismiss it, you should know the interview is done by David Brody, the Political reporter for the Christian Broadcast Network, who has a great reputation for holding candidate's feet to the fire.

Bordy has a blog called "The Brody File," where he has clips of the interview. Click here to see Sarah talk about Katie Couric, Tina Fey and, of course, Barack Obama.

Back on the Campaign Trail

Sarah Palin left New York City and hit the gound running.

Over Ten thousand showed up to see Sarah live in Rosewell, New Mexico. Palin talked about her appearance on SNL and said "There is now where I'd rather be live from
than Rosewell."

Instead of tallking about "Joe the Plumber," Palin talked about "Ed the Dairyman," who was in the crowd. She said Ed was a small businessman who would be hurt by Barack Obama's tax plan.

The it was on to Des Moines, Iowa where she did an interview with a local TV reporter and talked about Colin Powell's endorsement of Barack Obama:

She has done several local TV interviews, which further infuruares the national press because she won't sit down and do any more interviews with them.

Sarah Palin Draws A Record TV Crowd on SNL

Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin and Oliver Stone were all on the show too!

But all of them were surprises and were undoubtedly there to pitch their new movies and TV Show Premier to a record audience that turned on to see the hottest Celebrity in America right now - Sarah Palin.

The show got a 10.7 rating and a 24 share. They are the highest numbers since 1994 when Nancy Kerrigan hosted the show. But that was in the days before cable saturation and 500 channels.

To give you an idea of how high the rating for SNL was last night. It was the third highest rated show of the week behind Dancing with the Stars and CSI.

That is the highest weekly ranking ever for SNL.

It remains to be seen if her appearance helped the McCain/Palin ticket. But it did help Sarah Palin. She will be a player on the national scene for a loooonnng time.

Rave Reviews For Sarah Palin on SNL

Fate Brings Tina Fey and Sarah Palin Together Tonight

To get you ready for Sarah on Saturday Night Live, here is Tina Fey on The Late Show with David Letterman last night.

Dave asked her and Tina Fey wouldn't admit she was going to be on the show tonight.

But Tina Fey at one point let it slip by saying how weird it will be to stand next to a woman you are doing a parody of, "It's always sweaty when you're in the same outfit and the wig and you're like "hello."

Fey also said, "I don't want to stand next to that lady. That woman is pageant quality. She's a about a foot taller than me."

So expect Tina Fey on the show tonight with Sarah Palin. The comic opportunity and the potential ratings are too good to pass up.

Besides, why do you think she was on Letterman last night?

Sarah Palin Porn Will Be Out Before Election

Several things became official with this news.

1) Sarah Palin is a sex symbol.

2) She has surpassed the political arena and is a pop icon.

3) America is truly a depraved Country where Freedom of Speech is abused to appeal to the worst in us.

And who better to make that appeal than this man:

The King of Depravity, Larry Flynt.

Flynt's Hustler Video is currently shooting a porn film with a Sarah Palin look-alike, titled "Who's Nailin' Paylin?" A reader of the blog called this to my attention and noted that the spelling is sic and so is Hustler

Sarah is played by porn star Lisa Ann, who starred in a movie called MILF, one of the things Sarah Pain has been called along with V-PILF.

Here is a pic of Lisa Ann:

Not exactly a dead ringer, but close enough for Porn.

TMZ.Com has the story and pictures of Lisa Ann as Sarah Palin.

Some scenes from the script have been leaked. (By the way, how many pages is a porn script? 10 or 15?)

In one scene, Sarah Palin shows some diplomacy to two Russia soldiers who come to her home when their tank breaks down. Here is a photograph from the set courtesy of TMZ:

Click here to see more set shots. TMZ.Com has a whole gallery and Lisa Ann delivers a few of her lines

In another scene -- a flashback -- "young Paylin's creationist college professor will explain a 'big bang' theory even she can't deny!"

There's also a threeway with Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice look-alikes.

The video is in production now and is being fast tracked for release before the election.

Sarah Palin has wide ranging appeal in this election, from the Christian Right to the Perverted Left.

Here is the YOUTUBE video for Who's Nailin' Paylin:

Sarah Palin on SNL Tonight - "A Serious Impact on the Election," CBS News

From Scott Conroy, A CBS Producer travelling with Sarah Palin:

After spending the better part of her candidacy under the safe confines of carefully staged rallies and a few high-profile interviews, Sarah Palin is coming out of her media shell.

She now holds daily interviews with local broadcasters and conservative talk radio hosts, she gave her first ever on-camera press conference with her traveling press corps on Friday, and tonight she’ll take the leap that everyone’s been waiting for when she appears on “Saturday Night Live.”

“Oh, man. I'm excited for tomorrow night,” Palin told reporters on Friday. “I have no idea what to expect because I haven't seen any scripts or anything else yet, but it will be fun. The opportunity to show American television watchers anyway that you get to have a sense of humor through all of this or even just this really would be wearin’, tearin’ on you, so an opportunity to show that sense of humor and that side of all of this, I look forward to it.”

On the NBC show, Tina Fey has been relentless in portraying Palin over the last few weeks, and Fey’s satirical take on the Alaska governor has left its mark on the public consciousness. For that very reason, it would seem that Palin has much to gain and little to lose in tonight’s appearance.

If Palin can show an ability to laugh at herself, and perhaps even more importantly, succeeds in giving Fey a taste of her own comic medicine, she will reap the benefit of days of positive coverage on cable news and entertainment media outlets. “Saturday Night Live” may be a comedy show, but Palin’s appearance could very well have a serious impact on the election.

Obama & Palin! Dancing With The Stars.

The best political photoshop yet!

Sarah Palin Is The Hot Halloween Costume

You are going to see more than a few Sarah Palin's at Halloween parties this year, including some peopl wearing that scary mask to the right.

I'd sue if I were Sarah Palin. That is hideous.

But you don't need an expensive latex mask. It'll make your face and head all sweaty and half the fun of being Sarah Palin is that sexy librarian look.

What woman wants to go to an adult costume party with a mask that makes you look worse?

Actress and Sarah Palin impersonator Jessica Chisum says she put together her Sarah Palin outfit for under $100.

She says the main ingredients are a wig, sexy librarian glasses, a lot of bronzer, lip gloss, a power suit and accessories. Throw in a doll baby if you want.

That's it. Click here for the full rundown by Jessica. And here she is in action:

Costume Kingdom has the scary Sarah Palin mask. You'll find Obama, McCain and other masks at this site too.

Brandsonsale.Com has the same mask, but also a Miss Alaska sash and a rifle and flag bikini, like in the famous photoshopped picture of Palin.

Costume shops from Cleveland to Seattle are selling out of Sarah Palin costumes an accessories, including pitbull masks with lipstick.

As for Joe Biden masks, none were made and stores report that no one is asking for them. If you think about it, that's probably a good thing.

More details about Sarah Palin on SNL

The host of tomorrow's show is Josh Brolin. He plays George Bush in the new Oliver Stone movie, "W."

Still no word on whether or not Tina Fey will be there, although we are hearing she will be.

Tina Fey appears on the Late Show with David Letterman tonight. Click here for a preview.

She says anybody can do Sarah Palin. "It's the easiest impression to do since "Slingblade."

Oh, that call for a clip from a great movie and a great performance by Billy Bob Thorton. His first and last great performance. Then he got strange,

CNN On the Tina Fey Effect

Also, ABC News reports that Sarah Palin is on her way to New York for her first rehearsel with the Saturday Night Live cast and she has not seen a script yet.

Palin told reporters that she would love to play Tina Fey on the show. Two years ago Sarah Palin dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween.

Pirvately, The McCain campaign sees tomrrow night as a big opportunity for Sarah Palin.

They probably should wait until they see a script.

Sarah Palin Nude Look Alike Contest

Oh her family must be so proud.

For the first time in American history, a strip club, oh excuse me, "A Gentlemen's Club" is holding a look alike contest for someone running on a national ticket.

Club Paradise is holding a Sarah Palin look alike contest with the top prize being a trip to Washington, D.C.

I don't know if it says something about her or something about men that she has become this political sex symbol. My guess is it has more to do with the latter.

Men love to sexually diminish smart, attractive women. It is just something hidden in a deep, dark crevice of the male psyche.

Anyway, if you are in Las Vegas next Thursday and naked women with bangs, bee hives and glasses is your thing. (I have a feeling the bangs, bee hive and glasses are not the determining factors here.) Knock yourself out.

Here is the Press Release that came with the Flyer above:

McCain and King Both Confirm Palin Will Be On SNL

John McCain will appear with David Letterman tonight.

McCain you will remember cabcelled on Dave at the last minute to return to Washington to help with the economic bailout package.

As payback, Letterman grilled McCainabout the campaign's attacks on Barrack Obama and Sarah Palin's qualifications to be President. Sometimes David Letterman thinks a little too much of himself. Dave, you are a comedian. Be funny.

Anyway, http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/10/palin-mccain.htmlthat Sarah Palin will be on Saturday Night Live, something we reported on this blog days ago.

A short time later, Larry King confirmed on his show that Sarah would do SNL.

Tina Fey has still not confirmed that she is doing the show on Saturday. But we are being told she will be there.

Originally, the McCain campaign wanted to write and produce a take off of Tina Fey's American Express Commercials with Palin spoofing Fey. But, TSPB hears that SNL said "Thank, But No Thanks," to the idea.

SNL writers have the skits ready to go and Sarah Palin will have a rehearsel tomorrow.

We'll let you know what we hear.

Palin: A Victim of The Sexism Against Attractive Women In the Workplace

I received a wonderful email from a woman who sums up some of what I have been trying to say about the unique sexism aimed at Sarah Palin.

An attractive woman can't be smart because other women are jealous and want to diminish her as dumb or fake; and men look at them as sex objects and also want them to be something less.

If you don't think that there is a sexual diminishing of Sarah Palin, than you have not seen all of the Photoshopped nude pictures and fake sex scenes of Sarah that pollute the Internet.

Here is the letter I received:

I think that the issue with Sarah Palin is that America hates Attractive, Intelligent, Firecrackers, who at their core are really good people.

Funny thing is, we Americans created that character.

When American drama started, we as a country even in our earliest stages where exhausted by the "female lover/victim" that was the main character of every European Romantic Play/Novel. We pulled the funny "Zany", comic, ballsy side out from behind the shadow of the romantic damsel in distress and made her the main character. We opened the door to vaudeville, Ethel Merman, and the good ol "Broads" of America.

All of that is fine and well, as long as these characters are singing and dancing and entertaining us, and powerful in that way, but what if one of those gals believes that she can do a fantastic job fixing our country? What if one of the little girls that was raised hearing "You can be anything you want to be" is Vivacious enough to go for it, with out losing her morality or (gasp!) her sense of style? Oh no... that is too much.

I think the reasoning is, that to be all the things that America admires in their women in REAL life is REALLY, REALLY hard... and not only takes guts but also takes being more than a little naturally blessed, realizing that and taking advantage of it to the best of your ability.

The attacks on Palin have been really upsetting, especially to a 25 year old who's been raised feeling that I'm supported and encouraged to become... well, someone like Sarah Palin!

I always think of the lines of this Ani Difranco (another strong American woman) song in relation to Sarah Palin. Thought you'd enjoy the analogies.

I highlighted the piece that reminds me of her in Red.

32 Flavors

By Ani DiFranco

squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
i am a poster girl with no poster
i am thirty-two flavors and then some
and I'm beyond your peripheral vision
so you might want to turn your head
cause someday you're going to get hungry
and eat most of the words you just said

both my parents taught me about good will
and i have done well by their names
just the kindness I've lavished on strangers
is more than i can explain
still there's many who've turned out their porch lights
just so i would think they were not home
and hid in the dark of their windows
till I'd passed and left them alone

and god help you if you are an ugly girl
course too pretty is also your doom
cause everyone harbors a secret hatred
for the prettiest girl in the room
and god help you if you are a phoenix
and you dare to rise up from the ash
a thousand eyes will smolder with jealousy
while you are just flying past

I'm not trying to give my life meaning
by demeaning you
and i would like to state for the record
i did everything that i could do
I'm not saying that I'm a saint
i just don't want to live that way
no, i will never be a saint
but i will always say

squint your eyes and look closer
I'm not between you and your ambition
i am a poster girl with no poster
i am thirty-two flavors and then some
and I'm beyond your peripheral vision
so you might want to turn your head
cause someday you might find you're starving
and eating all of the words you said

- Molly from Pennsylvania

Thank you Molly. Maybe Sarah Palin was just the first of many. It is always more difficult for the first. Just ask Jackie Robinson

SNL with Palin this week could be Highest Rated Ever!

Forget the Wednesday Presidential debate, the biggest political television event this week will happen Saturday Night, when Sarah Palin appears on Saturday Night Live.

The McCain Campaign, acknowledging the importance of the event, is taking Palin off the campaign trail for a Friday rehearsal and then the live appearance the next day.

So far the hilarious impressions by look-alike Tina Fey have hurt Sarah palin in the polls. The McCain people think an appearance by Palin herself will have the exact opposite effect.

Many celebrities have used SNL appearances as crisis management, making appearances to how they have a sense of humor about themselves to turn a negative into a positive.

The skits written for Palin are top secret right now, even Tina Fey doesn't know what they are. In fact, the Associated Press reported that Tina Fey hasn't even been contacted yet to be on this week's show.

Fey did tell Reuters that she has been having fun playing the Governor of Alaska, but she does not want to do it forever. In fact, Fey was quoted as saying that she "would leave the planet earth, if Palin wins in November." Saying she could not take another four years of being Sarah Palin.

Fey's Palin impression have been a huge boost to her career and to SNL's ratings.

It remains to be seen of SNL will return the favor to Sarah Palin by helping her candidacy this week. They are certainly giving her the forum. There are already rumblings at NBC that this week's show could be the highest rated ever.

Levi Johnston Speaks!

Poor kid.

He is 18 years old facing fatherhood early. He wants to do the right thing and he is caught up in an ugly election where everyone is fair game.

Sarah Palin attacking Barack Obama for his relationship with domestic terrorist William Ayers is off limits. But apparently her daughters pregnancy is fair game in the double standard that has ruled this election.

Levi Johnston is speaking out after rumors, from guess where, that he was forced t marry Bristol Palin to make his future Mother-In-Law look good.

"Not true," Levi told the media in Alaska. "We are in Love."

He also says that he like Barack Obama but hopes McCain wins. His much maligned MySpace page, where he called himself a Redneck and bragged that he "kicked ass," was a joke put together by some of his friends. Also, he is working the oil fields as an apprentice to be an electrician.

The baby is due in December and the ultra sound says it's a boy.

Everybody satisfied? Wanna dig into Piper's middle school records?

By the way, if you have not seen it, here is FunnyOrDie.Com's take off on Levi's MySpace page. Warning: There are Obscenities.

The Media Has Proved It's Not Racist, But It Is Sexist

Reporters have been hyper-sensitive to the candidacy of Barack Obama. From the beginning, he has been treated with kid gloves by the media. The McCain Campaign put together a great web video on the Media's love affair with Obama:

The McCain campaign has complained recently that they have been painted into a corner. The McCain people claim that Obama can launch the most personal of attacks and, at the worst, get a slap on the wrist. They can call McCain old, unstable and out of touch. They can question Sarah Palin's intelligence and mock her experience. But when McCain fires back, his attacks are deemed as "ugly," even racist.

The Washington Post quotes Georgia Congressman John Lewis as comparing John McCain's tactics to racists of the past including George Wallace and Church Bombers.

During the primaries, Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton were also accused of racism when they brought up Obama's former pastor Reverend Jeremiah Wright or compared Obama to Jesse Jackson.

The media and the Obama campaign have been quick to throw penalty flags on any and all perceived racism.

But what about sexism?

Apparently that is not considered as great a sin by society and the media. Bill Clinton claims it is sexism that kept his wife from the Democratic nomination.

Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell talked about how sexism in politics is okay and how racism is taboo:

Indeed, polls showed that Americans are more acceptive of the idea of a black President than a woman President. The Democratic Primaries proved that to be true.

And that brings us to the General Election. Bill Maher can call Sarah Palin a "Bimbo" and that's okay. The media can question if she can run and be a good Mother and that's okay. Reuters and other media can take and publish Photographs like these:

And that's okay.

Sarah Palin was vilified as being dangerously inexperienced for her short tenure as Alaskan Governor and her time as mayor of a small town before that. In contrast, Obama's short tenure in the US Senate and his time as a state legislature before that was never questioned.

It would seem America has come a long way in race relations. Barack Obama's historic candidacy, his nomination and his success so far is testament to that. Maybe that is a good thing. Maybe the country and the media needed to pave the way for Obama's ascension to once and for all heal the ugly open wound of racism.

Sexism, however, will still be alive and well.

Philly Applauds Palin

Despite a local radio station calling for fans to boo Sarah Palin, Philadelphia Flyer's fans were more than gracious to the world's most famous hockey mom when she dropped the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyer's home opener.

WIP, a rabble rousing Philadelphia all sports talk station famous for bussing fans up to the NFL draft in New York to boo the selection of Donovan McNabb and sponsors a morning of gluttony and debauchery every year called Wing Bowl, was prodding its listeners to boo Palin when she came onto the ice. A move that would have brought further embarrassment to the city and its infamous fans.

But in this case, the fans had the good sense to ignore the nonsensical blathering of the station's loud mouths and instead showed some manners.

There were some boos, especially at first, but they were drowned out quickly by an appropriate and polite applause.

Here is the video:

I am so happy that Flyers fans showed the class NOT to boo Sarah Palin and her daughters.

I have new respect for them

They have class. I canot say the sam for their sports radio station.

Sarah Palin Fires Back At Alaskan Legislators

A Day after a State investigator, working for the Alaska Legislature, found that Sarah Palin violated state ethics laws and abused her power as Governor by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from the state police, Sarah Palin fired back.

The alleged abusive brother-in-law is pictured to the right ---- >>>

"If you read the report, you will see that there was nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member," Palin said as boarded her campaign bus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. "You got to read the report."

Her attornies were a little more blunt. "Here, there is no accusation, no finding and no facts that money or financial gain to the governor was involved in the decision to replace Monegan," the lawyers said.

Any abuse of power, they said, was on the part of the Legislative Council members, not the Palins.

"Sen. French and Sen. Green may have abused their government power by using public money to pursue a personal vendetta against the governor..."

"Put bluntly, Branchflower completely misapplied the Ethics Act and has instead sought to create a headline to smear the governor," the lawyers wrote.

The entire investigation stems from the firing of Alaska Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan, who oversees the state police. Monegan claims he was let go because he would not take action against Trooper Mike Wooten. Wooten used to be married to Palin's sister and is accused of threatening and being abusive t the family.

Monegan's refusal to fire Trooper Wooten from the state police force was "likely a contributing factor" to Monegan's July dismissal, but Palin had the authority as governor to fire him, the report by former Anchorage prosecutor Stephen Branchflower states.

In other words, Branchflower says it was not criminal, maybe not even imporper, but it still wasn't the right thing to do.

Sarah Palin is a very popular Governor, but she has enemies in both parties because she made her name as a whistle blower against corruption.

It seems it is payback time.

Live from New York! It's Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live!

Mark your calenders. It is a done deal.

Sarah Palin will be on Saturday Night Live October 25.

The skits and sketches are being written right now.

The Christian Science Monitor thinks this may be the October Surprise that the McCain/Palin campaign has been hoping for.

I think they were trying to be funny. That's big humor for CSM.

Tina Fey will be on the show too. When asked about doing SNL this week, Sarah Palin lit up and said she would "love to give Tina Fey a taste of her own medicine."

Palin is scheduled to rehearse Friday, October 24.

This should be Saturday Night Live's highest ratings in a long, long time, you betcha!

Palin with a Ronald Reagan like Comeback against a Heckler

This is what Sarah Palin said to a heckler at one of her speeches:

"You know, Bless your heart, sir. My son is over in Iraq gighting for your right to protest right now."

Who says she can't think on her feet.

Newsweek Attacked For Extreme Close-Up of Pailin

Have you seen the new Newsweek?

It is an EXTREME close-up of Sarah Palin and Newsweek chose to not touch it up at all. Every pore, hair, wrinkle and blemish is there for the world to see. Normally they air brush or touch-up the photos.

If you don't think there is bias in this cover, read the caption: "She's One of The Folks (and that's the problem)."

That's the problem?

And now take a look at a recent picture of Newsweek with Barack Obama on the cover.

Not only is it air brushed, he has a HALO for God's sake!

This may seem like a small point, but it is not. Ten thousand times more people see the cover of these magazines than read them. The images on the cover are carefully crafted to send a message.

This media manipulation is getting downright ridiculous.

Here is Fox News on the Newsweek cover:

Best Analysis Yet of V-P Debate

John Stewart called it a "Common-Man-Off," A contest between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin as to who was more connected to the middle class.

The Hockey Mom from Wasilla, Alaska or the Train-commuting Dad from Wilmington, Delaware.

Uh-Oh, Did Anyone Warn Sarah About Philadelphia Fans?

No question, Sarah Palin is one tough Hockey Mom.

No question, Philadelphia Flyers fans are one tough Hockey mob.

What will happen when the two forces meet on Saturday?

Sarah Palin has agreed to drop the ceremonial first puck at the home opener of the Philadelphia Flyers Hockey game.

When Palin was in Philadelphia two weeks ago to attend a private debate watching party at the Irish Pub in Center City Philadelphia, Flyers owner Ed Snider was one of those in attendance.

Now on the face of it, it is a cute idea. The self-proclaimed Hockey Mom, who has captured the attention of the world, dropping the first puck at a Hockey Game. Or as Ed Snider said, "We are very excited she has accepted our offer and we are very proud of the publicity she is generating for hockey moms and the sport of hockey."

The big question is how will the Philadelphia Flyers fans react?

Philadelphia Fans, you may have heard, are a vocal bunch. They have pelted Santa Claus with snowballs and booed the Easter Bunny. In fairness, they were not at a Flyers game. But in an emotionally divisive political year, boos are always possible in Philadelphia.

Philadelphia and the state of Pennsylvania will be getting a lot of attention from both campaigns over the next few weeks. It is the one big state that went Democrats in the last two elections, that McCain/Palin think they can steal this year.

Obama did not help himself by calling the working class people of Pennsylvania, "bitter people who cling t their guns and religion."

The polls show the race is a dead heat in Pennsylvania.

Barack Obama will be in Philadelphia again tomorrow. He was in the suburbs over the weekend. Springsteen held a free concert for Obama on the Ben Franklin Parkway on Saturday. And McCain and Palin were in the steel town of Bethlehem yesterday. That was McCain's 14th visit to the state.

Hillary and Bill Clinton will be in Scranton on Saturday and Joe Biden will campaign twice in the Philadelphia area on Monday.

But Palin at a Hockey game?

It is unusual for a team to show support for a candidate. Flyers management claims they are not, even though Snider gave $25 thousand to the McCain campaign.

Some Flyers season ticket holders have already expressed displeasure at making their game a political event.

Lets just hope they don't take it out on Sarah. Because I have been at the Wachovia Center and when they boo, it can be deafening.

My guess is that most fans will be polite and applaud. At worst, some will sit on their hands. The boos will be few and drowned out.

By the way, it is ironic that Wachovia Bank, one of the banks in trouble in the current financial crisis, has the naming rights to the arena.

Maybe it is an appropriate place to bring a campaign after all.

Sarah, The Princess and The New Deal

Sarah Palin has some interesting people in her past.

According to Ancestry.Com, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the 32 President of The United States is a 9th cousin.

Princess Diana is a 10th cousin.

Nice lineage.

By the way, Ancestry.Com is the same outfit who discovered that Barack Obama and Dick Cheney were related. - Insert your own joke here -

It's Official Obama is a Wussy. Palin is Tougher.

The Obama Capmaign is up in arms that John McCain referred to Obama as "that one" during the debate.

Really? That's what you get upset about.

Barack Obama is a little baby!

This is a man who didn't get partiulcarly offended when his pastor, Reverand Jeremiah Wright said "Goddamn America." That was okay. His sensitive ears didn't perk up then.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Isreal a "stinking corpse" and Barack wants to sit and have dinner with him. Apparently, that's okay.

But call Barack "that one" well now you have gone to far. Seriously, don't you think this guy needs to get a tougher skin. How did he survive on the tough streets of Chicago? He must have been coddled by William Ayers, Tony Rezko, Jermiah Wright and Michaelle Obama. They all seem much tougher than this sissy.

Everytime there is the slightest insult or anything he can percive as being an insult, he goes into a defensive cacoon and cries about it. He's like the kid in grade school who always told the teacher.

Here is the video. Cover your ears!!!

Oh the horror, oh the insult, oh the over reaction by a hyper-sensitive nyophite politician who things much too highly of himself.

He should learn from Sarah Palin, who is much tougher than he is.

Look at the how she took attack after attack, barrage after barrage, from the Democrats, the media, the blogs and the liberals and came out smiling and swinging.

This man has got to toughen up a little before he can be President. There are some real bad people out there in the world Barack. Dictators and Terrorists and Putin, Oh My! They are going to call you all kinds of bad names. You can't cry about it. You have to come back fighting, like Sarah.

You can read more about this at www.peoplepoliticspablum.com They have columnists from around the country reacting to "That One."

Sarah Is Ready For Your Questions Now

The Airplane door opened and out came Sarah.

For the first time on the campaign trail, Sarah Palin left the campaign's section of the private jetliner and entered the press section to joke with reporters and take questions. No camera were allowed.

By all account, Palin was charming.

On the flight between Pensacola, Florida and Greenville, North Carolina was asked a barrage of questions.

Yes, she will keep up the attacks on Barack Obama and her connection to former domestic terrorist William Ayers because, she says, Obama is not honest about that relationship when the truth is well documented. "I think it just makes us ask the question that, if there's not forthrightness there, with that association and what was known and when it was known, does that lead us to ask, is there forthrightness with the plans Barack Obama has on say tax cuts, or spending increases?”

Does that mean Barack Obama is a liar? "No, but he does have a problem with his past relationships and his truthfulness about those relationships."

Lain said again that she is disappointed the campaign pulled out of Michigan and said, "I am not giving up on Michigan."

As for Saturday Night Live, Palin lit up and said "I would love to give Tina Fey a taste of her own medicine." So it sounds like the Alaskan Governor may appear on the show. She's a hoot and she's so talented and it would be fun to either imitate her or keep on giving her more material and keep her in business.”

You can read more about what Sarah had to say at the ABC News political blog.

Palin watched the debate on Fox News at a pizzeria on the East Carolina campus. When it was over, Palin said "I think Barack was less candid than usual, which was a surprise." And she said McCain was "energized" and "on point." She said it was "a good night for McCain and a good night for America."

Palin was seen taking notes as McCain spoke.

The campaign may be giving up on Michigan, but not Pennsylvania.

A Rally today in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania is sold out. Everywhere Palin goes it is a sell out. Bethlehem is in the heart of the area where Barack Obama said "these are bitter people who cling to their guns and religion." Obama lost this state to Hillary Clinton in the primaries.

From Bethlehem Palin and McCain will then go to the suburbs of Columbus, Ohio for another sold out rally. This is the campaigns fourth visit to both Ohio and Pennsylvania. They move on next to Wisconsin, where they again have visited four times. And then on to Virginia early next week

It is easy to see which states the campaign is targeting. Some are criticizing the campaign for still thinking they can steal states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin from the democrats.

But Sarah Palin is one of the voices who is saying don't give up a state. Heck, she wants to go back to Michigan. It is her belief that she can connect with those voters unlike any other candidate.

She may be right.
