It was pretty obvious that Barack Obama was going to be on this year's Time cover as "Person of the Year."But Sarah Palin as the runner-up was a nice surprise and the article about Sarah was glowing!
Time calls hers "the most astonishing political debut in modern times" and says the 44-year-old mother of five who upset a corrupt GOP party establishment in a place many people don't ever want to visit "a one-woman rescue team for the Republican ticket."
The LA Times blog was even forced to say nice things about Sarah and instead decided to attack Time Magazine for being irrelevant. I love the gall of old Andrew Malcolm to write in his blog that Time is irrelevant. You can read Mr. Relevant's blog by clicking here.
The Time writer is Nancy Gibbs. She did a wonderful job. Here is an excerpt:
She was not just a governor, but the most popular governor in the country; not just a mom but a mother of five, with a family made for reality TV. And she wasn't just a running mate; she was a one-woman rescue team for the Republican ticket. Largely unknown but suddenly exalted, she was the perfect wide screen onto which people projected pride and prejudice in equal measure
You can read the entire article by clicking here. And I urge you to write an email to the editors of Time at letters@time.com and compliment Nancy on the article and the magazine on its inclusion of Sarah Palin.
How many times in history has a Vice-Presidential candidate been so popular? The simple answer is never.
Sarah Palin is unique in American politics and American history. Her "Person of the Year" honor is still to come.

actually she was one of several "runners-up"
basically that simply means she was considered
don't make it sound like more than it is
As a member of Team Sarah, I support Sarah 2012. My thoughts and prayers for her, her family, and her church.
Why is it that whenever left wing, goose stepping Obamunists come trolling on conservative and pro-Palin site, they are invariably "anonymous"
Hey, "anonymous", or is that you Arianna? Get a life, I thought you people say that the Gov. is an idiot, a moron, unprepared, etc.,etc. so why does she remain so popular, as exhibited in Georgia, and why do you cowards keep talking about her...
Don't you have a scandal to cover up for Barry in Chicagostan????
Anonymous is correct in his/her assertion but wrong in her conclusion.
There were FOUR runners up. Palin, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Chinese Film Director Zhang Yimou for the Beijjing Olympics and Secretery of the Treasury Henry Paulson.
Pretty impressive company and Sarah is the only woman and the youngest person on the list.
So I am not making it "more than it is." This is the Sarah Palin Blog. I pointed out that she is the runner up. Google Sarkozy, for instance, and you will see that Sarah is not mentioned in write ups about him.
By the way, Al Gore lobbied hard to be person of the year and did not even make runner up. Neither did Hillary or Bill or a couple of billion other people.
"Make it more than it is?" I probably couldn't if I tried.
It's Sarah's world...we are just debating it.
