If there is any doubt of Sarah Palin's International Pop icon status, just take a look at Google's annual ranking of the fastest-rising global search terms for 2008.

Google says its annual study of the billions of search queries that people type into its search engine "gives us a glimpse into the zeitgeist -- the spirit of the times."

Alaska Gov. Palin ranked No. 1, while Barack Obama finished at No. 6.

The top search terms, in order, were:
