A Good Month For Sarah Palin

It has been 33 Days since election day and by all accounts it has been a great 33 Days for Sarah Palin.

Post-election Palin needed to do three things quickly

1) Repair her image
2) Keep her name and face in front of the Republican Faithful
3) Expand her base
4) Show that she has political clout
5) Do all the above without ignoring the duties of running Alaska

Although criticized on all fronts, because she is seen as a threat to Democrats, liberals, special interests and established Republicans, to name a few, there is empirical evidence that she has been successful on all fronts.

Recent polls show that since the smear campaign by the Democrats and the mishandling by the McCain campaign, Palin has become popular with women and independents while still holding on to the Republican Base.

First came the media blitz, Sarah was everywhere. She talked with Matt on the Today show, Larry on CNN and Greta on Fox.

The came the national appearances; The Republican Governor's Conference in Florida and the National Governor's Conference in Philadelphia. At both, Palin stole the attention. She is on everyone's list for Republican fundraisers and she has been a big hit at the one's she has headlined.

But perhaps the biggest success came in Georgia, where Senator Saxby Chambliss credits Sarah Palin with his win in the runoff election for re-election. He says without Palin's help, he may have lost. Chambliss called Sarah "a Rock Star" and added that he has not seen anyone energize a crowd like Palin.

Chambliss won by 15 points and kept the Democrats from gaining a veto proof majority. In other words, she is collecting some important IOUs.

Listen to Senator Chambliss rave about Palin:

Obama steered clear. Many say he didn't want to be seen as going head to head against Palin as many would have painted it as a preview of the 2012 race....and Obama clearly would have lost.

It is worth repeating Chambliss fawning over Palin - "When she walks in a room, folks just explode and they really did pack the house everywhere we went. She's a dynamic lady, a great administrator, and I think she's got a great future in the Republican Party."

Palin has played her post-election perfectly so far. Makes you wonder what the hell the McCain people were thinking by micromanaging her.

So she has repaired her image, kept her name in the public eye, expanded her base and definitely showed her clout. And with a multi-million dollar book deal, which is sure to top the best sellers list, it is fair to say that Sarah Palin has had an exceptional month.

She has received some criticism by Alaska Democrats for leaving the state too much and all Governor's are feeling the pressure of the recession, maybe more so in Alaska where low gas prices are hurting the economy.

But Palin just signed a bill for a 30 billion dollar Natural gas pipeline that will create jobs and new tax income. Her state budget is expected to include an aggressive health care and education plan that is sure to cause a stir.

But her public bill signings and news conferences in Alaska keep her in the minds of her constituents while she flies to the lower 48 to keep her in the minds of the greater electorate.

It is a tiresome balance. Right now it is working.

The question is - can she keep up this pace? There are very few betting against Sarah Barracuda.

Excellent post!

In terms of your last line I would say don't bet against the 'Cuda, because she is made of steel...

Plus, she promoted a new health care initiative in Alaska, and her budget will be out on the 15th, in Juneau, with spending reined in and under control...

Looking forward to her re-election in 2010!

Is there some sort of credible information on this statement?

"Obama steered clear. Many say he didn't want to be seen as going head to head against Palin as many would have painted it as a preview of the 2012 race....and Obama clearly would have lost."

And this one, as well, especially polling data:

"Palin has become popular with women and independents while still holding on to the Republican Base"

??

And now we find out the allegations that she did not know Africa was a continent were based on a hoax.

They've tried to paint her as "stupid" - but it will not hold now that she and we have time to refute the lies.
