Now All Eyes Will Be On Gwen!

For the past week, every columnist and commentator in the country has been saying that all eyes would be on Sarah Palin tonight. They were absolutely right until Gwen Ifill became a bigger story.

Now all eyes will be on Gwen. Sarah Palin should send her a box of chocolates or at least buy her book. That is, if she's not too busy on Inauguration day, when the book is scheduled to hit the book stores.

The Book is called "Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama." The age of Obama? Isn't that a little premature. Unless, of course, the author expects Obama to win or is rooting for Obama to win or both.

And that would make the author bias. And that would then make the author unfit to be a moderator of a debate. Especially since the author, Gwen Ifill, stands to profit from Obama winning because her book will sell.

Ifill should have stepped aside. Jim Lehrer, her colleague at PBS, won't even allow anyone to have a political bumper sticker on their car in the parking lot because he does not want the hint of bias. Wonder what Jim thinks about Gwen not stepping down?

Wonder what he thinks of Gwen hawking her book on the Barnes and Noble website as she prepares to be the "objective" moderator of the debate. Watch the video by clicking here.

But now Gwen will be scrutinized and she is in the hot seat as much as the candidates.

As former CBS reporter and commentator Bernard Goldberg told Fox News, "if Gwen Ifill looks at Sarah Palin cross-eyed for a nanosecond, you know what's going to happen. It's going to be, 'Well, Gwen Ifill has a book coming out, she's got a vested interest and did you see, did you see the way she looked at Sarah Palin?"

Gwen Ifill has hurt her reputation by not doing the honorable thing and stepping aside. But Ifill didn't tell the debate commission about the conflict, she refused to step aside and she even played the race card by saying this never happened to a white author.

We'll all be watching tonight Gwen. And, on behalf of Sarah Palin, thank you.

Anything to divert attention from the issues. This is typical of a Republican party that has nothing to stand on. McCain/Palin are doomed regardless of what happens tonight.
