McCain Campaign finding that Palin Really is a Maverick!

It was a day that Sarah Palin broke with the campaign.

All day the Sunday Morning News shows and then the Cable News programs were making a big deal about the fact that the McCain campaign was sending Sarah Palin to Nebraska.

Nebraska is one of only two states (Maine being the other one) that delegates electoral votes by Congressional District. Nebraska has 5 electoral votes and three Congressional Districts. There is little chance that the Republicans could lose the state, but the Obama people have made a strong bid to win one of the districts.

The Obama campaign has come up with 19 scenarios where it the electoral vote could end up as a tie and that one Congressional District could be a tie breaker.

The news programs and Democratic pundits were claiming that the Palin visit to Omaha today shows some desperation by the McCain campaign to hold on to its base.

Sarah Palin told an Iowa crowd that once again the media elite were wrong. She says it was her idea to go to Nebraska. CBS is reporting she told the crowd, "The pundits will ask the top dogs of the campaign why I came to Nebraska, and it's truly because I wanted to see the Heartland of America."

The surprise, last minute visit drew a huge crowd according to an Omaha Television station.

This comes after Palin. once again, questioned the McCain's campaign's wisdom in pulling out of Michigan. The Alaska Governor told a crowd in Colorado that "she sure would love to run to Michigan."

Maybe that will be her next surprise visit.

It seems that Sarah is campaigning to the beat of her own drum.

And today Sarah Palin once again attacked Barack Obama for "palling around with a terrorist." The terrorist being William Ayers, a 60's radical who's group "The Weathermen" were responsible for bombing Federal Buildings.

The Associated Press said the attacks were "“unsubstantiated and carried a racially tinged subtext that John McCain himself may come to regret.”

Palin told reporters today that the AP is "wrong." Palin said it is fair to question Obama's relationship with this man since his political career "kicked off in this guy's living room."

A woman told me today that Sarah Palin is "cute as a button" and that is why she is voting for her. But Palin has learned to be cute and folksy and smile big while she goes on the attack. She is formidable.

The campaign has finally allowed Sarah to be Sarah.

Watch out!
