Wow!
I'm still not sure how to feel about the Charlie Gibson interview of Sarah Palin of World News Tonight.
First, ABC did a great job of leaking the "war with Russia" quote. It got my attention. But it wasn't really that bad as Charlie unfairly led her down a path of suppositions - "Should the Ukraine and Georgia be in NATO?" "If they were, wouldn't we have to defend them?" "Doesn't that mean war with Russia?"
At times Gibson came off as condescending, even arrogant. "I got lost in a blizzard of words there." But, that is a good thing for Sarah Palin, as the Republicans have already set up the storyline that she is being attacked by the media and they would never be this tough on a man.
Still, there is enough here for both sides to use. She handled some questions very well and seemed like she had a pat answer for others with no depth.
All in all I think she was fair. But the fact that she did not come off like a polished, slick politician may actually help her. After all, she is the "just like us," PTA, Hockey Mom ad she sat there and took a grilling from Charlie Gibson.
A lot of women are going to put themselves in her place, which is just what the Republicans want.
I'm going to go watch the parade of Talking Heads try and both tear her apart and praise her on cable news.
I'll post their rantings through the night.
But, once again, it's all about Sarah!
